Meet Our Lead Expert
Dr. Devendra Borikar, P.Eng.
B.Eng., M.Sc., M.A.Sc., Ph.D., P.Eng.
Advanced Water Treatment Trainers and Water Treatment Pilot Testing Consultants is led by Dr. Devendra Borikar, P.Eng., a recognized expert in drinking water treatment. With over 38 years of experience in water treatment system design, operations, optimization, pilot testing, and applied research, Dr. Borikar also offers advanced water treatment courses and drinking water treatment training, alongside pilot testing consulting to enhance the capabilities in the field.
Leadership & Experience
Dr. Borikar served as the Science & Technology Lead at the Walkerton Clean Water Centre from 2005 to 2024, where he was instrumental in the design, operation, and optimization of the Technology Demonstration Facility. In this role, he also pioneered advanced water treatment courses and contributed to drinking water treatment training programs for Ontario's drinking water professionals, while providing expert pilot testing.
Proven Expertise
Throughout his career, Dr. Borikar has led over 100 pilot testing consulting projects for drinking water, delivered more than 100 advanced water treatment courses, trained thousands of water operators and professional engineers, and provided support to municipalities, utilities, consulting firms, and regulators in tackling complex water treatment challenges.
Academic Excellence
Dr. Borikar holds a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Applied Science from the University of Windsor, and an advanced engineering master's degree from IHE Delft Institute for Water Education (Netherlands). His interdisciplinary expertise includes advanced water treatment courses, drinking water treatment training, and pilot testing consulting, all aimed at integrating water treatment design, plant operations, process optimization, engineering, applied research, and sustainability to deliver practical, evidence-based solutions for today's drinking water challenges.

AWTT offers advanced water treatment courses designed for operators and professional/process engineers in Ontario. These advanced-level technical drinking water treatment training programs are approved for 0.7 CEUs in Ontario, Canada, and are available in both virtual and in-class formats. Water Treatment Pilot Testing Consultants
We assist municipalities in validating new technologies, troubleshooting issues, and establishing site-specific design criteria for new projects. Our offerings include advanced water treatment courses and drinking water treatment training, covering critical aspects from disinfection by-products, iron, manganese, arsenic, to PFAS and microplastics. Through pilot testing consulting, we provide the data-driven insights necessary for capital project reports and life-cycle cost analysis.
